Every person who owns, possesses or harbors a wild animal, as set forth in General Municipal Law, Section 209-cc, must file a report annually, on or before April 1, of each year. Persons living in the Village of Clinton will file the report with the Village Clerk, 853-5231, and persons living in the Town of Kirkland will file the report with the Town Clerk, 853-5401. Offices are located in Lumbard Hall, 100 North Park Row, in Clinton. Forms are available at each Clerk's office. This information is necessary to protect public safety and the safety of emergency services personnel, when responses for emergency services are requested. A list of common names of wild animals to be reported can be accessed at the Department of State's website, www.dos.state.ny.us.
